History-sheeter and notorious criminal Anwar Sheikh alias Tiger Anwar was brutally murdered after a group of people attacked him in Savanur, Karnataka on Sunday.
The murder took place at Karatagi Cross at Savanur town in Haveri district of Karnataka at around 5.30 pm where the deceased had gone to recover some money from one Imran Choudhari.
Anwar was attacked by group of armed people and died on the spot after receiving a severe blow on his neck.
"As per preliminary investigation a person named Imran attacked Anwar in a matter related to some money transaction", Savanur Police inspector Devanand Naik disclosed.
A case is registered at Savanur police station. Superintendent of Police Hanumanth Rai and PI Devanand Naik are investigating the case even as Imran has been arrested pending investigations.
Anwar had a total of 26 criminal cases registered against him and in many cases court hearings were going on.
In 2019, he had also been charged in a sexual assault case.
It may be recalled that he escaped an attempt on his life in February 2021 in Fatorda after Ricky Hornekar and others had attacked him with swords, chains and iron rods.
Incidentally SP Sammy Tavares reached the spot and Anwar was saved in the attack.
Anwar had many other cases and FIRs have been registered in 26 places under various offences such as rape, kidnapping, threatening to kill, attempted murder, assault, robbery, burglary, theft, sexual abuse, extortion, illegal gathering and assault.
Savnur is the native place of Anwar and he had been staying there for the last few days. Earlier, the district magistrate had deported Anwar from South Goa.
