Facing flak from motorists and commuting public on account of the pathetic, pot-holed condition of roads, the Public Works Department (PWD) has now set up a public helpline to enable citizens to report pot-holes from anywhere in the State.
The helpline number 7796667373 has been made available to report potholes across the state.
People can now forward photographs along with Google locations of any potholes on roads in Goa except for the National Highways, a press release issued by the PWD said. Meanwhile, PWD Minister Deepak Pauskar said the department’s engineers will attend to pothole-related issues raised in WhatsApp messages sent to the number by people.
“Road contractors will be directed to repair the roads because there is a 3-year maintenance clause for every road as per the tendering process and contract conditions,” Pauskar said.
He said when rains halt, filling potholes will be carried out within eight days.
Currently, the PWD had embarked on a temporary arrangement by which potholes were being filled with concrete.

MAPUSA: Netizens flooded the social media platforms with their take on Pauskar’s request to forward pictures along with google location of potholes.
“Any potholes….Oh really….Does he not read the newspaper reports,” said Rahul Mhambrey, a Chartered Accountant and a member of Aam Aadmi Party on a WhatsApp group in Bardez.
Following him was Pankaj Kudtarkar saying: “Goiche saglyach rastyanche location dhadche padtale tar!”
“More than 100 potholes identified in Calangute...Sent the audit copy to this number…We want action,” said Premanand Divkar, an active citizen of Calangute on a Calangute-based WhatsApp group.
