DSC guard killed in brawl with another

A tiff between two Jawans from the Defence Security Corps (DSC) and stationed at the Naval Armament Depot (NAD) in Chicalim came to a violent end, when one jawan allegedly killed the other on Wednesday night.   

According to sources, the two DSC Jawans got into a quarrel over some issue and it then escalated into a heated argument.   

Sources said Swaminathan Mani (53), who resides at INS Jeevanti but is a native of Vellore-Tamil Nadu allegedly struck his colleague, VM Singh from Uttar Pradesh, with a sharp object, leaving him injured at around 9 pm on Wednesday.   

Mani is alleged to have left Singh at the site and went to sleep in his room. Sometime later, Mani proceeded to duty at the gates.   

In the meanwhile, another staff on duty saw Singh grievously injured, alerted his superiors and shifted Singh to Jeevanti Hospital, but he was declared dead on arrival.   

Vasco PI Nilesh Rane said the NAD security officer later lodged a complaint with Vasco police stating that two DSC jawans on duty guarding the gates got into a fight near the
