Chief Minsiter Pramod Sawant on Thursday indicated that his directive to Secretaries to bring all government recruitment for ‘C grade’ posts in various government departments under the ambit of the Goa Staff Selection Commission will not affect ongoing processes.
Sawant told legislators of the Bharatiya Janata Party at a meeting held at his official Altinho residence that the recruitment process is not cancelled or stopped as claimed by the Opposition parties.
He said, for the smooth functioning of the administration, some steps are required which have been taken.
He also advised his cabinet ministers, most of who were present at the meeting, not to rush with recruitment to government posts in their departments, but to approach it by a step-wise process as posts approved and sanctioned by the High Level Empowered Committee were not meant to be filled up in one go.
Earlier last week, a ‘note’ issued by Sawant directing that all government recruitment for ‘C grade’ posts should be routed through the Goa Staff Selection Commission had triggered speculation that ongoing recruitment processes, particularly the one at the Goa Medical College and Hospital, Bambolim to recruit over a 1000 nurses, technicians, paramedics and others would be derailed.
