Three court complexes in Goa were searched on Monday following a bomb threat, triggering heightened security and disrupting court proceedings. The threats turned out to be hoaxes. The High Court of Bombay at Goa, South Goa District and Sessions Court in Margao, and the North Goa District and Sessions Court at Merces were searched by security personnel. At the South Goa District and Sessions Court, Bomb Disposal and Anti-Terrorist Squad personnel, along with the Fire Brigade and Goa Police, rushed to the premises following the threat. Personnel from the Bomb Disposal Squad (BDS), Anti-Terrorist Squad (ATS), Fatorda Police and Margao Fire Brigade conducted an extensive search of the entire court complex to rule out the possibility of an explosive device being planted in the building.
The search disrupted court proceedings for some time during the afternoon session. Court staff, lawyers and litigants heaved a sigh of relief after security personnel completed the search.
