The High Court of Bombay at Goa permitted the Goa government to relocate the remaining cattle from the demolished Dhyan Foundation gaushala at Zambaulim after the Foundation failed to place before the Court a rehabilitation and shifting plan.
When the matter came up, the Bench noted that despite being granted an opportunity, Dhyan Foundation had not submitted any concrete proposal detailing how the remaining cattle would be rehabilitated or shifted.
In view of the absence of such a plan, the Court allowed the State authorities to proceed with relocating the remaining 25 cattle from the gaushala.
The Bench directed the authorities to ensure that the relocation is carried out in a proper and humane manner, keeping the welfare of the animals in mind throughout the exercise.
The High Court also directed the State government to file a compliance report after completing the relocation process.
The matter has now been posted for further hearing on Monday.
During the previous hearing on Wednesday, the High Court had refused to stay the relocation exercise and had instead directed the petitioner to place on record a detailed welfare and rehabilitation plan for the cattle.
The State had then informed the Court that 42 cattle had already been shifted to a government-authorised gaushala in Bicholim and that the remaining animals would also be relocated.
