Hopes pinned on Margao MLA, MMC to cap unhygienic conditions at Osia complex

Hopes pinned on Margao MLA, MMC to cap unhygienic conditions at Osia complex

MARGAO
Margao MLA Digambar Kamat and his entire team in the Margao Municipal Council led by Chairperson Damu Shirodkar might have realised the unhygienic conditions in the Osia commercial complex when they all descended to watch the Kantara movie in the theatre.

For, sewage and wastewater have been flowing down in the complex, emitting a foul odour and causing nuisance and health hazard to the visitors.

Visitors to the Osia commercial complex hoped that the presence of the MLA as well as the civic chief and councillors should cap the nuisance in the complex at the earliest. The Osia commercial complex not only plays host to a host of business establishments, including a number of restaurants and eateries, but government offices such as the Transport Department, TCP, SGPDA, etc.

All these departments from the city were shifted to the OSIA commercial complex during the Manohar Parrikar regime when Digambar Kamat was the State’s Urban Development Minister.

Since then, visitors to the commercial complex have complained of the non-functioning lifts, absence of parking and the unhygienic conditions in the complex, but in vain.

“At least now, we hope that the authorities including the Sewerage Department and the Margao Municipal Council will cap the overflowing sewage and wastewater in the Osia complex,” remarked a visitor.
