Health Minister Vishwajit Rane on Thursday attributed the bed constraints witnessed at the South Goa district hospital to a sudden rise in monsoon-related diseases.

He, however, has promised the media that he would seek an update from the Hospicio South Goa district hospital medical superintendent Dr Rajendra Borkar on the present situation at the government hospital

When the media drew the attention of the Health Minister during his visit to the BJP State president Damu Naik to extend Ganesh Chaturthi wishes, Rane said the South Goa district hospital is run to its full capacity.

“We have commissioned the 500-bedded hospital. There is a surge in the admissions because of the outbreak in monsoon-related diseases. Our doctors and para medical staff are attending to the patients”, he said.
