Saligao MLA Kedar Naik on Tuesday launched the work to hotmix internal roads in Ward 4 at Alto Saulem in Pilerne in the presence of Zilla Parishad Member Sandeep Bandodkar, Pilerne-Marra Sarpanch Reshma Bandodkar, Dy Sarpanch Ajay Govekar, Panchas Santosh Bandodkar, Ashwini Chodankar, Ankita Naik, former panch member Karan Govenkar and the locals.
Speaking on the occasion, Naik said the condition of all internal roads at Saulem had deteriorated and needed an urgent hotmix.
“Residents in the locality have been demanding hotmixing of these roads since the last two years. This work is now being taken up by the PWD at a cost of Rs 1.18 crore,” said Naik.
“Being located at a higher altitude, residents of Alto-Saulem do not get sufficient water with adequate pressure. There is a need to construct an overhead water tank in the area and this work will also be taken up very shortly.”
The MLA said his emphasis is to improve basic infrastructure such as water, electricity and roads in the villages in Saligao constituency.
Dy Sarpanch Ajay Govekar thanked Saligao MLA Kedar Naik for taking up the work to hotmix internal roads at Alto Saulem.
“There is vacant land of around 4,000 sq. meters at Saulem and the panchayat has decided to develop a good ground from the panchayat fund for the benefit of locals. Work to erect new electricity poles in this area is also in progress,” said Govekar.
ZP member Sandeep Bandodkar also spoke on the occasion and assured full support to the panchayat in regard to developmental activities.
