House damaged, numerous trees uprooted in Bicholim
A house which was damaged in Wadachawada in Shirgao.

BICHOLIM

One house was damaged while a number of trees got uprooted as heavy rains lashed Bicholim taluka on Saturday.

According to sources, a tree got uprooted and fell on a house in Wadachawada in Shirgao, damaging the roof. No one was injured due to the incident.

Elsewhere, five trees uprooted on the main road at Pali-Kothambi, damaging electricity poles and disrupting power supply in the area. 

Bicholim fire personnel went to the different sites and cleared the debris. Several low-lying areas were also inundated in the taluka.

The disaster management team has been on alert on account of the heavy rains.

Meanwhile, Chief Minister Pramod Sawant on Saturday morning took stock of the situation on account of the heavy rainfall and directed authorities to take all precautions during the rains.

Bicholim MLA Dr Chandrakant Shetye and Mayem MLA Premendra Shet also reviewed the rain situation in their respective constituencies.
