House gutted in fire at Khadki Firefighters dousing the flames at the house in Khadki-Sattari.

A fire broke out at a house near Sriram Temple at Khadki in Khotoda Panchayat area of Sattari taluka on Wednesday around 8 pm, destroying the household belongings of Anil Naik.

The incident has caused heavy financial loss to the family.

According to information, Anil Naik was constructing a new house on the site of his old one. As a result, all household items were stored in two nearby rooms. The family is currently residing elsewhere.

On Wednesday evening, after lighting a lamp for prayer at the site, they left the premises. Later, around 8 PM, a sudden fire broke out at the location.

Local residents initially attempted to control the fire, but due to its intensity, they were unsuccessful. The Valpoi fire station was alerted and a fire tender led by Station Officer Dnyaneshwar G Gawas rushed to the site. Due to the severity of the blaze, a second fire tender was also pressed into service.

After nearly one-and-half hours of continuous efforts using two fire tenders, the fire was finally brought under control. However, by then, all items stored in the two rooms”including clothes and household materials”were completely gutted. Fire officials stated that the flames had engulfed the rooms from all sides, leading to extensive damage.

Zilla Panchayat member Premnath Dalvi visited the site and took stock of the damages. He met the affected family, offered support, and assured that efforts would be made to secure financial assistance from the government.
