Sancoale Sarpanch Girish Pillai said all the houses including the ones in slum area of Zuarinagar may have to pay house tax soon.
Pillai was speaking on
the sidelines of inauguration of tarring of road behind the Birla bus stop, providing access to various houses in slum area of
Zuarinagar.
Pillai said he had intended to fix house tax for residents so that more development could be taken up with the same revenue.
"We have undertaken a lot of development here and we also want the residents of this area to get a good life. They should get all the facilities and since we are doing development for them, we have to also arrange the finance. We have decided that soon all these houses will have to pay house tax so that we can use the same money for development," said
Pillai.
The tarring of road at Zuarinagar slum area was launched by Pillai in
the presence of local Panch Arish Kader, Panch
Narayan Naik and other residents.
Speaking on the occasion, Kader said the panchayat has taken up a lot of development works for slum area and Cortalim MLA Alina Saldanha has also supported the project.

said the panchayat will make all efforts to ensure to give a good life to slum dwellers.
Contractor Jonita Rodricks said it was an important project and she had completed seven drainages in the
area and the tarring of road would be completed in next 2 to 3 days.
