Panchayat Minister Mauvin Godinho said that Vaddem lake should be looked upon with a positive thinking.
Godinho said that he did not want to criticize anybody but it had to be decided who would look after the beautified Vaddem lake. Godinho said that a beautiful facility of a beautified Vaddem lake had been created by GSUDA using public money and somebody had to look after it and preserve it well.
“I recognise Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar who gave me two classic projects of Joggers Park and Beautified Vaddem Lake and there is no joggers park like ours across Goa nor is there any lake that is beautified like this. Without any politics coming in between or differences coming in the way, I would like you to either form a committee or unite together because ultimately it is the council who has to decide and I don’t want to be an arbitrator”,
he said.
The Mormugao Municipal Council and Confraria should sit down, decide and move forward so that there is no room for controversy in maintaining and upkeep
of the beautified Vaddem lake.
The St Andrew’s statue is one end of the lake and the other end we have Ganapati immersion and this is a classic example of communal harmony and religious amity and ultimately God is one though roads may be different, said Godinho.
Vasco MLA Carlos Almeida requested the MMC to hand over the beautified lake to the Fabrica because they could look after the project and maintain it well.
