Dabolim MLA Mauvin Godinho on Wednesday stated that he has lived up to his promises made during the 2012 assembly election.
Godinho was speaking during the inauguration of his new office and paper bag making industry at New Vaddem, Vasco.
Addressing the women and other general public, Godinho said his other promise of introducing a bill to legalize illegal houses is pending in the House and it will be taken up on the first day of August assembly session.
“Though there was an anti-Congress wave during the 2012 assembly election, I got elected on the Congress ticket with the help of Dabolim voters. The credit of my victory goes to Mahila Mandals, my other workers and voters of Dabolim constituency,” said Godinho.
“The paper pag making industry at New Vaddem is the first step to get rid of plastic bag menace and in future I will start similar industries at Vasco, Mormugao, Cortalim and the rest of the State,” he added.
“This industry will help the Mahilas to be self-reliant and earn a livelihood to support their families. This is just the beginning and I want Mahilas to grow along the lines of the Lijat papad making industry,” he said.
“Initially, my office will supply raw materials to make bags to the Mahilas and marketing would be done through my office,” said Godinho.
Further speaking on his developmental work, Godinho said most of his development works are in progress and rest are in the pipeline, which will be completed by this year end.
