Illegal mining case: Digambar, Lolienkar get summons

Former Chief Minister and Margao MLA Digambar Kamat and former director of mines Arvind Lolienkar have been summoned by the Special Investigation Team (SIT) of Goa Police crime branch probing the alleged Rs 35,000 crore illegal mining case of 2013.

The duo has been asked to remain present at the crime branch office on Tuesday in connection with the ongoing probe.   
Mines department had lodged a complaint with the crime branch on July 26, 2013. Following this, on August 19, 2013, the crime branch registered the FIR against all those listed in the reports submitted by the Shah Commission, the Public Accounts Committee and the Supreme Court appointed Central Empowered Committee. The SIT was instituted in the last week of August 2013. Along with the then mines director and Kamat, who held mines portfolio for over a decade, other accused in the case include Shobhana Rivonkar, Baban Gaonkar and Robert Gonsalves.

Easter night power outage angers Davorlim residents

Agitated over power outages in and around Chadwaddo area for two-three hours everyday for the last couple of weeks, residents of Davorlim on late Saturday night stormed the power sub-station at Rawanfond to vent out their anger on the power officials.
