Navelim MLA Luizinho Faleiro also cried foul over the power outages on the eve of Easter celebrations, suspecting mischief even as he demanded an inquiry into the power breakdowns in the locality. He has a written a letter to the Chief Engineer Faleiro demanding an investigation into the acts of ‘sabotage’ in Electricity Department by Junior Engineer during the Lent season/Easter and specially on the Easter night
Angry residents rushed to the power sub-station late last night after the entire Chadwaddo and surrounding area was plunged into darkness. The residents could not find any power official at the sub-station as they demanded uninterrupted power supply to their homes, suspecting that the power is supplied to the nearby Nessai Industrial estate at the cost of the common man. A local resident Succoro Gomes told the media that residents of Chadwaddo and neighbouring areas have been facing power outages every day for three-four hours, between 8 pm and 12 midnight. Siddesh Bhagat said the government should find out whether unscrupulous power officials are involved in supplying power to the nearby Nessai Industrial Estate by depriving consumers.
