Private doctors under the banner of Indian Medical Association (IMA) will not only restrict themselves to tele-communications with the home isolated patients.
A group of private doctors have now formed a team to visit the South Goa district hospital in shifts to lend a helping hand to their government counterparts overburdened with patients flooding the hospitals in the last few days.
IMA Margao chief Dr Babita Prabhudesai said since the Covid situation has reached a situation wherein the government doctors are overburdened with normal duties, the IMA doctors have offered to help their counterparts in the government hospitals.
“We have made a beginning by forming a group of 8-10 doctors, who have decided to visit the South Goa district hospital and monitor the health condition of the patients admitted there. This will give some relief to the government doctors who have been totally stretched out by the prevailing Covid situation,” she said.
The Margao IMA chief is optimistic that more number of private doctors will join the mission in the days to come.
“We are in a situation wherein 450-plus patients are admitted at the South Goa district hospital. This has overburdened the doctors and paramedics as the rising number of patients have not received corresponding deployment of doctors and staff,” she added.
