PANAJIWhen the matter came up for hearing the High Court took up the issuewith the blanket allegation that certain trawler owners were indulgingin illegal fishing and sought that specific violators be identified andimpleded.Advocate Kantak the advocate for the petitioners stated that a list ofthe details i.e. registration numbers of the trawlers who are allegedlyinvolved in fishing using LED lights and bull trawling, will befurnished to the Director of Fisheries within a week from today.In response the Advocate
General assured that even a week from thereceipt of such a request, the Director of Fisheries will give the namesof the persons who own such trawlers based on which Kantak, toldthe court that these persons will be impleaded as respondents to thispetition.“Since the petitioners are alleging rampant breaches, it is onlyreasonable to proceed on the basis that the petitioners will be in aposition to implead at least some of the alleged trawler owners whoare defying them as respondents to this petition. We cannot acceptany blanket statement that the petitioners are not aware of such wrongdoers and therefore are excused from impleading them as parties tothis petition,” the High Court bench of Justices M S Sonak and M SJawalkar, said.
