To voice their opposition to the arrest of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, the INDIA Alliance has decided to hold protests nationwide.
Arguing the arrest as unlawful and in violation of constitutional rights, the INDIA Alliance has planned a demonstration in Goa as well, at Azad Maidan, commencing at 11 am on Tuesday.
Sources said that security around the Chief Minister’s Official Residence and the BJP headquarters besides other places has been heightened to prevent any law and order situation.
“If the protest breaches the law and causes inconvenience to the public, the protestors will be detained. Our machinery is on its toes,” the government source said.
The INDIA Alliance leaders had decided to kickstart a people’s movement on ‘Shaheedi Diwas (Martyrs’ Day) on March 24 and abstaining from Holi celebrations on March 25 to focus on conveying a message of national salvation and surrounding the Prime Minister’s residence on March 26, which is when the nationwide protest begins at 10 am.
