The Goa State Industries Association (GSIA) submitted a memorandum with suggestions from the industry to Chief Minister Pramod Sawant, as part of the pre-budget consultations on Thursday.
In a press note, the GSIA said it was invited for pre-budget consultations by the chief minister, who is also the finance minister. GSIA President Damodar Kochkar along with the other office bearers interacted with Sawant in the matter.
"Knowing fully well the financial constraints of the State due to the ongoing pandemic and economic slowdown, the GSIA advised the chief minister to lay more emphasis on improving Ease of Doing Business in the State and promoting local employment.”
“In order that local youth from distant villages can work in industrial estates, we have suggested that the government provide more buses from villages/towns to nearby industrial estates," stated the GSIA.
"GSIA has also brought to the notice of the chief minister that online services provided by various departments need better monitoring and implementation. In many departments, employees are not trained to assist the public to avail online services.”
“The online process is also very cumbersome and, most of the times, the websites are not functioning. We have suggested that the server infrastructure of the IT Department should be upgraded.”
The GSIA said suggestions on many other irritants which affect the functioning of industries were also brought to the notice of the chief minister.
“We have suggested to the chief minister to give focussed attention for development and growth of the industry, especially the MSME sector, which can significantly contribute to the growth of State’s GDP and employment in the State," the GSIA added.
