Internal party bickering led to split of 8 Cong MLAs: Saligao MLA

Says party never sorted out differences, resolve grievances

Saligao MLA Kedar Naik on Thursday claimed that internal bickering in the Congress party had led to the split of eight Congress MLAs, which included him.

“Leaders at the helm of affairs in the Congress party in Goa never made attempts to sort out the differences and resolve the grievances of the MLAs. Even now, differences persist in the party after the split of eight MLAs,” said Naik.

“The very fact that leaders of Congress party could not appoint a Leader of the Opposition after removing Calangute MLA Michael Lobo from the post indicates there is no unity among the

Congress leaders.”

“They are not capable of taking decisions, which is why all eight Congress MLAs got frustrated and decided to leave the party. There is no point in blaming the MLAs. The leaders should blame themselves for this split,”

said Naik.

The Saligao MLA claimed that by joining the BJP, he would be in a better position to develop his constituency at a faster pace.

“All six panchayats in my constituency want development in their villages which is possible with the support of the BJP. The existing panchayat office building of the Reis Magos panchayat will be demolished soon and in its place new building will be constructed.”

“Similarly, a proposal has been moved for the construction of a new panchayat Ghar for Pilerne-Marra Panchayat. Work on the water treatment plant at Pilerne plateau has begun,” said Naik.
