A sub-committee of the Investment Promotion Board has begun evaluating the feasibility of the two investment proposals to set up marinas at Sancoale in Mormugao taluka and at Nauxim in Tiswadi taluka.
The sub-committee comprising Atrey Sawant, Shekar Prabhudesai and the IPB’s CEO Vishal Prakash began evaluating the detailed project reports of the two proposals and is expected to submit a report to Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar, who is also the Board’s chairman.
The Board, at its last meeting held on October 30 and chaired by the Chief Minister at his private residence in Dona Paula, had constituted the sub-committee to evaluate the feasibility of the two marina proposals.
The sub-committee was also mandated to prepare a detailed report on the basis of which the Board empowered Parrikar to take a final decision whether to clear or reject the proposals.
Both the investment proposals were submitted to the IPB in 2015. The proposal at Sancoale was moved by a Goa-based company, Yacht Haven, while the one at Nauxim is being promoted by a Mumbai-based company.
Getting no response for over two years, the two companies had approached the Bombay High Court which directed the IPB to take a decision one way or the other and report back to it.
The IPB meet held on October 30, however dithered in taking a final call and instead set up the 3-member sub-committee comprising Sawant, Prabhudesai and the CEO to make a detailed study of two the proposals and report to the Board’s chairman. The meeting also resolved that the decision of the Chairman would be the decision of the Board which would then be conveyed to the High Court.
