Making this known on the floor of the House, Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar said, "FIR No 103 has been registered under section 302 (murder) r/w sec 34 of IPC and investigation is in progress. Let police do their job."
The issued was raised during Zero Hour By Mandrem MLA Dayanand Sopte who sought to know the progress in the case.
Police Constable Kishor Shirodkar was found dead in the premises of an open school near Ashwin Garage at Porvorim. Family members were convinced that he had been murdered, even though the police had initially registered a case of suicide.
Speaking to The Goan, Porvorim PI Paresh Naik said police have started investigations into the matter. "During the investigation, it came to light that Shirodkar had taken loans of several lakhs of rupees from cooperative societies and banks. We have written to these financial institutions to furnish details of the loan amount," he said.
"We have also summoned those persons named as suspects by the Shirodkar family and after interrogation we will come to know whether or not the said persons were really involved in the murder of Shirodkar," said PI Naik.
