Canacona MLA Isidore Fernandes did not let the Catholic Holy Week services hinder his campaign for the Lok Sabha polls in Canacona, as he actively campaigned in Agonda on Saturday.
Fernandes and other Congress workers went about meeting voters in various parts of Canacona constituency and did not allow his tempo to slow down even during the holy week. Fernandes, who normally stays at his Panaji residence till Easter, decided to stay back at his Loliem residence, to continue his campaign and even skipped some of the church services beginning on Maundy Thursday.
GPCC General Secretary Janardhan Bhandari, Secretary Mahadev Dessai, ex-ZP and Congress leader Daya Pagui and Agonda Sarpanch Pramod Phaldessai also joined Fernandes at Agonda on Saturday.
“People don’t want BJP again in the centre, and one can come to know the mood of voters as far as Canacona constituency is concerned, if one sees the poor show of strength at BJP’s meeting on Friday. Congress will gain a lead in Canacona constituency, eventually making Franscisco Sardhina the winner at the South Goa LS seat,” said Bhandari.
