Issue of Civil Supplies officer: MMC councillor demands withdrawal of transfer, threatens hunger strike

MARGAO
Margao Municipal councillor Camilo Barretto has threatened to sit on a day-long hunger strike outside the Goa Legislative Assembly on the first day of the Assembly session, beginning from Tuesday.

Claiming that a lady Civil Supplies inspector has been harassed by the department, Barretto said this inspector has been transferred as many as four times in a year, with the lady inspector receiving her latest transfer to Valpoi.

Addressing the media, the MMC councillor wondered how come a government officer is transferred as many as four times in one year when the rules mandate the transfers after 2-3 years. “This shows that the lady Civil Supplies inspector is meted out harassment by the seniors for her uprightness in discharging her duties,” he said.

Giving government time till Monday to withdraw the latest transfer order served on the lady officer, Barretto said he would be left with no option than to sit on a hunger strike outside the Legislative Assembly from Tuesday.
