With key infrastructure still incomplete, IT Minister Rohan Khaunte has pressed officials to accelerate work at the Electronic Manufacturing Cluster (EMC) in Tuem. At a high-level review held in Pernem, the minister flagged gaps in essential utilities and directed concerned departments to move swiftly on pending works, including installation of a dedicated communication tower, power requirements and fire safety infrastructure -- all seen as critical before industries can begin operations at the site.

During an on-site inspection of facilities, including the warehouse and waste management building, Khaunte emphasised that physical infrastructure must be completed in tandem with common amenities to avoid bottlenecks once units begin setting up. He also called for immediate follow-up on specific requirements raised by the Fire and Emergency Services and the Electricity Department.

Khaunte maintained that the EMC at Tuem is central to Goa’s industrial ambitions, with the potential to attract new investment, generate skilled employment, and diversify the state’s economy beyond tourism. “EMC Tuem is vital for Goa’s future. By establishing this cluster as a dedicated electronics manufacturing hub, the State aims to attract new investments, create high-quality local jobs and strengthen Goa’s position on the industrial map of India,” he said.
