The Info Tech Corporation of Goa has floated the idea, and invited architects to design a “co-working space” along the Morjim beach to promote the idea of working space that offers the flexibility for individual professionals to find a work environment even while on a holiday.
“It (a co-working space) flexibility, networking opportunities and for some, productivity benefits. Instead of working remotely in separate offices or places, independent professionals, telecommuters and others who have the ability to work from anywhere share one working environment,” the ITG has said in its tender documents.
The Department of Information Technology has identified a suitable place in association with the Tourism Department, Government of Goa to set-up this “IT co-working space” at a Tourism Department property along the coastline at Morjim beach.
The space will be fully equipped with high bandwidth, conference room and co-working space.
Sources in the department said that the initial idea is that the property will be developed like a shack except with terminals and lounges to help those work in a relaxed environment.
The idea behind the same is that individual workers come together in a shared place to enjoy greater productivity and a sense of community.
Further, this concept would also look forward to becoming a revenue generation model in the future, wherein some identified area could be given to the merchandise agencies for their stores, thereby generating revenue. The structure would be purely temporary and would operate during the tourist season.
The Department of Information Technology, Government of Goa has identified M/s Info Tech Corporation of Goa Ltd (ITG) as the Implementing Agency (IA) for executing this project. The initial capital investment on the structure would be provided by the Department of Information Technology being the pilot project and thereafter the winning bidder will work out the revenue resources.
