It's murder; plastic was inserted into IRB cop's mouth, shirt torn: Sopte

The widow, Ashwini Shirodkar, and her mother-in-law, Sadavati Shirodkar, were accompanied by Pernem MLA Dayanand Sopte as they gave their statements to Porvorim police in connection with the death of the police constable, which has presently been registered as a suicide.
Later speaking to news persons, Sopte said Porvorim police had registered a case of suicide, merely on the basis of a post mortem report by Goa Medical College hospital at Bambolim and had failed to take into account several facts. "Plastic was inserted in the mouth of the deceased, Kishor Shirodkar and his shirt was torn. Moreover, his red scooter was fallen on the ground and bruises on the face of the deceased were not those of ant bites," claimed Sopte.
"A person planning to commit suicide will not tear his shirt and insert plastic in his mouth. This clearly indicates that Kishor Shirodkar was murdered."
"In the statement given to police, his mother Sadavati Shirodkar mentioned that four days prior to Kishor's death, a person had threatened to kill him. The police should, therefore, consider these facts during its investigations." "I will raise this issue on the floor of the assembly during Zero Hour on Tuesday," said Sopte.
Sadavati Shirodkar, who had tears in her eyes, was a god-fearing person and had never hurt anybody.
"He would never have thought of committing suicide. I have come to the police station to request police not to take this case lightly, but to conduct investigation seriously and give us justice," she said.
Ashwini Shirodkar said she was shocked that the police had not made any headway in the investigations.
"If the police examines the case seriously in all angles, they will certainly find clues. My husband was not a coward to commit suicide. There was no reason for him to commit suicide and he was murdered," she said.
When contacted, Porvorim PI Paresh Naik said the police had taken the statements of family members of the deceased police constable and assured to discuss the case with his superiors and take necessary action in the matter.
