Jagrut Canconkars want security

The ‘Jagrut Canconkars’ has prepared a memorandum to be submitted to Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar and other authorities and has demanded enhanced security measures and strict action against anti-social elements in curbing criminal activities in Canacona taluka.

CANACONA: 
“The united people of Canacona strongly condemn the inhuman, barbaric and brutal rape and murder of Danielle McLaughlin. The incident which occurred on the Holi festival night, March 13, has left us totally in shock,” states the memorandum.   
Demanding swift and immediate action in the case, the Jagrut Canconkars wants an investigation in the case to be supervised by high-level officers to ensure that the accused gets capital punishment.   
The group has also demanded that all accomplices of the accused, Viket Bhagat, be kept under strict vigil and surveillance, while a judicial inquiry be initiated against the deputy collector, who failed to take timely action on the externment proceedings against Bhagat.   
The setting up of a police outpost at Palolem beach, increased presence of police at all beaches in Canacona, strict action against all those involved in drug menace and the installation of CCTVs at all vital junctions in Canacona are other demands of Jagrut Canconkars.
