Urban Development Minister Milind Naik on Thursday said that JICA project would be completed soon to resolve the water issue at Sada.
Naik said water storage facilities were available but water was not reaching the facilities and hence, there was a big issue of water supply to residents of Sada.
Naik was speaking to reporters after convening a joint meeting of PWD officials and staff to address the grievances of people who had complained of change of water supply timings, less water supply and low pressure in the area for the last few days.
"We have received many complaints from people regarding water supply. Sada is at the tail-end of the constituency and we have a storage tank of around 8.5 MLD which can help us supply water to Sada, even if there is no water supply for two days. We also have another tank in pipeline to store additional 1.5 MLD water."
"We have pointed out that we will not harass the PWD even if there is no water for 2 days provided we can store the 8.5 MLD water in storage tanks, but the issue is that water is not even coming till this point and we cannot even store water in the tanks.”
“The JICA lines will be completed soon and this will resolve all water supply issues,” said Naik.
The minister informed that the metal lines will replace the concrete line and there will be no issues of breakdown or leakages.
“Besides the JICA metal pipeline, we have prepared an estimate for another metal line to replace the old cement pipeline between Verna and Dabolim, which will improve water supply even further. If we get around 85 MLD water from Verna regularly, it will resolve water supply issues of entire Mormugao taluka," said Naik.
