Women’s Police Station, Panaji has filed charge sheets in four cases registered in the latter half of 2015 against journalist Rupesh Samant, accused of sexually harassing his juniors, through lewd remarks, unwelcome touch, in some cases as well as molestation and outraging the modesty of several women.
Samant has been chargesheeted under Section 354 (assault or criminal force to woman with intent to outrage her modesty), 509 (word, gesture or act intended to insult the modesty of a woman), 354 (A) (sexual harassment) and 345 D (stalking) of IPC.
Confirming the development, Women’s Police Station PI Sudiksha Naik informed, “The charge sheet has been submitted before Judicial Magistrate First Class, Panaji. Each of the four charge sheets has listed around six to eight witnesses.”
