K Vaikunth short film contest gets 930 entries from 72 countries

As part of the Centenary Year celebrations, Ravindra Bhavan, Margao, in association with the Department of Information and Publicity, Govt of Goa, is organising an annual International Short Film competition in memory of Late K Vaikunth.

The festival is named the "Cinematographer K Vaikunth 1st State and National/International Short Film Competition".

Ravindra Bhavan, Margao Chairman Rajendra Talak said the competition shall provide an opportunity to bring out the best and boost local talent in Goa, nationally and internationally. The 1st Competition was held in July 2026 and, after meticulous judging, the prize winners have been selected and will be announced during the Award/Prize distribution ceremony to be held at 5 pm on September 7, followed by screening of the award-winning films.

The function will be graced by MP Hema Malini, Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant, PWD Minister Digambar Kamat, MLA Ulhas Tuenkar and Damu Naik, BJP President, Goa State, and Jury Members.

He said that a total of 930 entries were received for the competition from 72 countries.
