SANGUEM
Bablo Kharat was on Monday unanimously elected as sarpanch of Kalay-Sanguem.
The election was necessitated following the ouster of former sarpanch Kishore Rama Gauns Dessai in a no-confidence motion in the last week of September.
At a special meeting, Bablo Kharat, Shraddha Naik, Bapu Shelke and Zimi Rekdo were present while Kishore Rama Gauns Dessai, Viraj Verekar and Suraj Naik did not attend the meeting.
Since Kharat was the only panch to have filed his nomination, Election Officer Sumant Naik attached to the Sanguem BDO Office declared him elected unopposed. Panchayat secretary Dinkar Kossambe assisted in the election process.
Speaking to reporters, Kharat assured to undertake development projects in the village by taking all members into confidence and appealed to all members to support him during his tenure as Sarpanch.
