Terror links in north Karnataka with certain terrorist organizations that are said to be allegedly linked with the ISIS and other terror groups have been further exposed with the arrest of a 40-year-old journalist from Kalburgi.

According to reports, Ejaz Saith, who owns an Urdu newspaper, was arrested by police and investigating agencies on Sunday and was on Monday produced at JMFC IIIrd Court in Belagavi.

Mohammed Hussein Qureshi was arrested last week for allegedly taking photographs of the airports, bus stands, railway stations and other important places in the state and was in police custody for seven days. He was further reprimanded to an additional judicial custody of 14 days.

In a shocking revelation by Qureshi, police said he was on Church Street at Bengaluru when minor bombs were exploded there last year.

Sources further informed that Ejaz Saith’s name was revealed by Qureshi after interrogation by central and state agencies investigating terror links. It was revealed that Ejaz was directing Qureshi to click the photographs of various important establishments in Belagavi and north Karnataka.

Soon after getting the custody, the sleuths investigating the terror links took Saith to an unknown location, while Qureshi was sent to Central Prison at Hindalga.

Sources revealed that Saith had taken on lease a Kalburgi-based Urdu newspaper and was the editor of that paper. Qureshi who used to distribute the newspapers was assigned by Saith to take photographs of important public places mainly in north Karnataka and deposited Rs 5,000 into his bank account for every photograph.

Police, who had also arrested three others from Kalburgi, have released them on bond from their respective families and have asked them to be present whenever required.

The mobile call and message registers of the last two years of all the accused have been collected by the investigating agencies. High secrecy is being maintained by the agencies investigating the terror links.
