MARGAO
Days after embracing the BJP along with seven other Congress councillors, Margao MLA Digambar Kamat had the privilege to cut the birthday cake of Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the Khareband locality of the constituency on Saturday.
That’s not all. Kamat shared the dais with bete noire and Margao Municipal ward councillor Mahesh Amonkar and together cut the birthday cake. While welcoming Kamat into the party, Amonkar, who had embraced the BJP only a month ago, hoped and prayed that the Margao MLA find a place in the Chief Minister’s cabinet.
Addressing the gathering after cutting Modi’s birthday cake, Kamat said the whole world, where Indians are living, are celebrating the birthday of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, saying Modi is responsible for returning back the self-respect of Indians across the globe. “People of Indian origin now feel proud that they are all Indians and this respect has been bestowed on them by the Prime Minister. There was a time when Indians were not treated with respect. The scene has changed in the last 10 years,” he added.
