Kamat suggests to whitewash or raze down S Goa comunidade bldg

Says must first take comunidade components into confidence

MARGAO

With the imposing South Goa Administrator of Comunidade building standing adjoining the beautified Lohia Maidan, Margao turning out an eyesore, Margao MLA Digambar Kamat on Thursday asked Additional Collector, South Srinet Kothwale to put up a note to the district Collector to explore the possibility of razing down the building by taking the comunidade components into confidence.
Inspecting the Lohia Maidan beautification works along with officials on Thursday ahead of the celebration of the Goa Revolution day on Saturday, Kamat pointed out that the government can work out a deal wherein the building is razed down to pave way for a new building at the site, but after taking the comunidade components into confidence.
“There can be a win, win situation for both the comunidade bodies and the government. The Comunidade bodies can be accommodated with space once the government comes out with a new building at the site,” he added.
While urging the Additional Collector to put up a note to the District Collector, Kamat said the administration can whitewash the Comunidade building since it is standing as an eyesore adjoining the beautified Lohia Maidan.
“Pending the government decision how to go about with the Comunidade building, the district administration can at least whitewash the building and fix the broken windows and glasses,” he added.
Saying that the Lohia Maidan beautification work is almost complete, the Margao MLA said the balance works, including the shifting of the power transformer will be shifted after the 18th June celebrations. “Right now, we will be able to commemorate Goa Revolution Day at the Lohia Maidan. The balance works will be complete after the celebrations,” he added.
