Former Tivim MLA Kiran Kandolkar accused the Director of Panchayats of acting with bias and called for his immediate replacement.
He said the Sirsaim Sarpanch had resigned almost a month back but the director of panchayats (DoP) failed to convene a meeting to elect a new sarpanch only on the instruction of the Tivim MLA.
Conversely, he said Colvale Sarpanch had resigned much after the Sirsaim sarpanch but the DoP has convened a meeting in Colvale panchayat only because it is with the local MLA.
Similarly, he said the secretary of Aldona panchayat was transferred and the charge handed to a secretary with additional charge soon after the panchayat slipped out from the hands of the Aldona MLA.
“The Director of Panchayats is taking instructions from local MLAs since the Sirsaim and Aldona panchayats are run by my supporters. Is this how decisions are taken by senior bureaucrats,” asked Kandolkar.
He requested Panchayats Minister Mauvin Godinho to look into the matter and take corrective measures so that people don’t suffer.
“Aldona is a big panchayat. When a secretary with additional charge comes to the panchayat for just one or two days in a week a lot of work is held up. People are the worst sufferers,” he said.
