Kejriwal lied to people of Goa on Delhi church demolition: Congress

PANAJI

All India Congress Committee national spokesperson Dr Shama Mohamed on Wednesday condemned the Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal for lying to the people of Goa on the issue of demolition of a church in Delhi. Condemning the action of the government of demolishing the church, she said, “We are upset, sad and hurt that a religious place has been demolished.”

Dr Mohamad also condemned the AAP Convenor and Delhi CM for pleading innocence in the demolition of the religious place and hurting the sentiments of lakhs of people. She further stated, “Arvind Kejriwal had said that he has no idea because it’s the Delhi Development Authority (DDA) and it comes under the Central government. But the DDA committee is made out of two AAP MLAs “ Dilip Pandey and Somnath Bharti, one BJP MLA O P Sharma and three BJP councillors. They (AAP) definitely knew that there was a demolition happening. But they did not stop it. It was known to him (Kejriwal). He is the chief minister. The (AAP) MLAs are part of the committee. He cannot come to Goa and lie to the people of Goa that ‘I did not know’. Kejriwal has to answer why it (church) was demolished.”

Dr Mohamad further demanded, “The Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal must explain why his two MLAs (Dilip Pandey and Somnath Bharti) had kept quiet on the demolition issue. The lone BJP MLA O P Sharma also remained a silent spectator for the illegal act of demolishing a religious structure.” She alleged that notice was not served before the demolition and that both BJP and AAP are two sides of the same coin.

GPCC Girish Chodankar stated that on this issue, Congress will come out with details and soon expose the nexus. Leader of Opposition Digambar Kamat also condemned the demolition of the Church. Congress held both Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal responsible for the action of demolition.
