Congress Party's North Goa Lok Sabha candidate, Ramakant Khalap, has proposed the establishment of special revenue courts to address the backlog of Mundkarial and related land cases.

Speaking at a meeting with party workers in Bicholim, Khalap highlighted the need for urgent action on pending cases concerning Mundkars, tenancy, land revenue code, partition, mutation, and Devasthans.

Drawing from his experience as the former Chairman of the Goa Law Commission, Khalap emphasised the inefficiency of the current system, where Mamlatdars are only mandated to hear such cases on Saturdays.

He expressed scepticism about the effectiveness of this approach in clearing the substantial backlog of cases.

Accompanied by Aldona MLA and party coordinator for the North Goa Lok Sabha seat, Carlos Ferreira, Khalap criticised the performance of the incumbent Member of Parliament, Shripad Naik, over the past 25 years.

Khalap contended that Naik's tenure lacked significant achievements and criticised his failure to address key issues, including the Mhadei dispute.

Ferreira echoed Khalap's sentiments, questioning the BJP's track record in delivering tangible development under Naik's leadership. He emphasized the need for elected representatives who actively advocate for Goa's interests in Delhi.

Both Khalap and Ferreira pledged to prioritise Goa's concerns and advocate for meaningful development initiatives if elected.

Their remarks underscored the growing dissatisfaction with Naik's performance and highlighted the Congress Party's commitment to addressing pressing issues facing the region.
