PORVORIM
Revenue Minister and Porvorim MLA Rohan Khaunte has asked the contractor to complete the first phase of work on Salvador-do-Mundo Panchayat Ghar by end of January 2018.
Khaunte visited the Panchayar Ghar cum sports complex project of Salvador-do-Mundo Panchayat, which is coming up in an area of 3,864 sq mtrs, and discussed about the progress of the work with the officials of Goa State Infrastructure Development Corporation and the contractor V P Rao.
Though the foundation stone for the project costing Rs 22.98 crore was laid on February 25, 2014, the work actually commenced in August 2015 and the work was expected to be completed by January 2017.
After discussing the matter with GSIDC Managing Director Anil Kotwale and contractor V P Rao, Khaunte advised the contractor to complete the first phase of work - Panchayat Ghar by January end.
"Now all the teething problems have been sorted out and the contractor has agreed to complete and hand over the Panchayat Ghar by end of January 2018," he said.
"I have advised the contractor to complete the work on the office building urgently as it becomes difficult for the panchayat staff to work in the existing premises which is hardly 80 sq mtrs. There is no sufficient place for the panchayat staff to sit or keep their valuable records," said Khaunte.
