MARGAO: The directors and managers of Zomnivele Khell on Friday sincerely thanked the Tiatr Academy of Goa (TAG) for supporting them in staging khell tiatrs during the Carnival celebrations.
They also expressed their gratitude to Chief Minister Pramod Sawant, Art and Culture Minister Govind Gaude, and TAG President Anthony Barbosa. At the same time, they urged the government to increase TAG’s budget in the next financial year to help tiatr grow further. Speaking to the media, Arnaldo Costa, President of Konkani Non-Stop Tiatrists and Tiatristanchi Saunstha, praised TAG President Anthony Barbosa for his support during the Carnival. “Khell tiatr directors work hard and put in long hours to prepare their shows. Thanks to Barbosa, each director got two khells during the Carnival,” he said.
Arnaldo appealed to the Chief Minister and Art and Culture Minister to allocate more funds for tiatr next year. He added that the khell tiatrs performed across Goa were watched by Ministers and MLAs in their respective constituencies. Director Xavier de Maina said TAG’s support was a great help for khell tiatr directors. He thanked the academy for the initiative, saying it would further promote tiatr in the State.
