MARGAO: The Transport Department has taken strict action by suspending the permits of buses whose drivers and conductors were involved in a fight at the Aquem bus stop last month.
Assistant Director of Transport, Nixon Soares, has issued notices suspending the permits of three buses for 45 days.
Soares told the media that the permits were suspended after the RTO received a report from the Traffic Police recommending action against the buses. He added that the RTO has also issued challans to the buses. The fight between the bus drivers and conductors broke out near St Sebastian Church Junction in Aquem over soliciting passengers. Local residents had demanded strict action from the RTO and Traffic Cell, Margao, against the erring drivers and conductors, who were causing inconvenience to the public by parking buses at the junction.
