Dr Prabhakar Kore Hospital and Medical Research Centre, KLE University and JN Medical on Thursday observed the World Arthritis Day and Continuing Medical Education workshop.

University Vice Chancellor Dr Nitin Gangane inaugurated the function and spoke about arthritis.

“Arthritis is a disease that occurs regardless of gender or age. If not treated in time, it can lead to joint problems, growth retardation, mental disorders and spinal cord disease. Arthritis makes human life completely painful. Therefore, I call upon citizens to join hands to create awareness among the public about this disease,” Dr Gangane said.

Giving further details, he said there are different types of arthritis like rheumatoid arthritis, bone arthritis (osteo), small joint arthritis (gout), and spine arthritis (spondylitis). Vascular and muscle diseases are serious, he said.

Medical director of the hospital Dr Col M Dayanand said people suffering from arthritis must change their lifestyle. “Lose weight, exercise regularly, and take advantage of medical science that has progressed immensely,” said Dr Dayanand.

Medical Director of Cancer Hospital Dr M V Jali, Dr V M Pattanshetty, Dr Arif Maldar, Dr Basavaraja Bijjaragi, Dr Shailesh Udapudi and others were present.
