Around three-to-four inmates, purportedly gang members of Sadiq Bellary “ the victim of a cold blooded murder, were injured in a retaliation altercation with fellow inmates within the Colvale Central Jail.
While the precise reason of the fight remains undisclosed, sources informed The Goan, that a group of undertrials initiated the confrontation with the victim-inmates and attacked them using utensils taken from the jail mess. One of the victims required seven stitches on his head while the others also sustained bleeding injuries.
“They were provided immediate medical help and subsequently released from the in-house dispensary,” the source said.
The victims are the co-accused in a murder case wherein Bellary was implicated as the prime accused. The 22-year-old was murdered by his rivals while he was asleep at his Rumdamol residence last month. His parents had left for work leaving the house unlocked. The deceased undertrial was released on bail in a murder case. His accused are currently lodged in the Colvale jail, albeit in a separate undertrial block.
