The KLE Academy of Higher Education and Research (KAHER), Belagavi, a deemed to be university, has been successively accredited with A-plus grade with CGPA of 3.39 by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) for the third cycle of accreditation.
The NAAC has also given its green signal to the university to start a new medical college in Hubballi from the forthcoming academic year.
A large number of Goan students who pursue their medical education are expected to benefit from the accreditation as the grading enhances the academic prestige of the University nationally and globally.
As a part of accreditation process, a seven-member national team visited and assessed all the required parameters.
“The NAAC accreditation is a very comprehensive process, it’s emphasis is on academic output, research, student support, hospital services, community outreach extension activities and some of the best practices followed in the University,” Registrar Dr V A Kothiwale told media persons.
“We are happy that the peer team from NAAC has appreciated the good work and particularly the internationally recognised new-born research unit and said this centre is unique in the country. They also appreciated the excellent infrastructure and facilities provided for the all-round and holistic development of students.”
“The team visited all colleges and departments of the university and the visit culminated with exit meeting where the chairman of the team Dr P V Vijajayaraghavan appreciated the excellent academic standards, research output and the hospital services of the University among other things and appreciated the visionary leadership of Dr Prabhakar Kore,” Dr Kothiwale said.
This year, the University got permission to start a new medical college in Hubballi with annual intake of 150 students from this academic year.
The NAAC A+ accreditation is another major milestone and feather in the cap of KAHER and Chancellor of the University Dr Prabhakar Kore and Vice Chancellor Dr Vivek Saoji have congratulated the entire KAHER team.
