A native of Kolkata was nabbed red-handed with narcotic drug, ganja worth Rs 1.40 lakh early Sunday morning, Mapusa Police informed.
The JMFC court in Mapusa has remanded the accused Alamin Rafik (27) to three-day police custody.
The accused is originally from Kolkata, West Bengal but presently residing near power grid, Chicalim in Colvale.
Acting on reliable information, Mapsua Police conducted a raid at around mid-night and found the accused with his goods carrier vehicle behind the Binani Glass Factory, Colvale.
During the search, police found ganja weighing around 1.40 kg in the goods carrier belonging to the accused. The contraband and the vehicle were seized by the police.
An offence under section 20 (b) (ii) (B) of the NDPS Act was registered against the accused.
PSI Anil Polekar was the state complainant while Head Constable Irshad Watange and police constables Franky Vaz, Abhishek Kasar and Sarvesh Mandrekar were part of the raiding team.
PSI V Chodankar is investigating the case under supervision of PI Tushar Lotlikar.
