Konkani Khell Tiatr Directors finally get paid
After running from pillar to post since Carnival, Konkani Khell Tiatr Directors on Thursday finally got their payments for staging Carnival khells in the Commercial capital during the carnival festivities.
The directors collected their money from ex-Chairperson Arthur D’Silva, during whose tenure the khells were staged in the city during the carnival. Worried that they would loose their money, having lost their payments in 2010 following a change in guard in the Civic body, the directors thanked Arthur for ensuring that they received their payments.
Cajie de Navelim, Dada de Navelim and other directors collected their money from the outgoing Chairperson from his office at Agalli on Thursday morning.
Arthur later told the media that he has kept his promise to make the payments to the khell tiatr directors, whether he is in office or not. “No doubt, there was delay in clearing the payments, but I had assured the khell tiatr directors that no injustice will be done to them whether I preside over the Municipal affairs or not”, Arthur said.
