Addressing a news conference, Almeida said the corporation has been conducting refresher courses and seminars to KTC drivers and conductors on roadsafety measures at regular intervals, to keep them alert while on duty.
“KTC drivers and conductors follow all safety measures and traffic rules while driving. In the last five years, KTC has taken the initiative in safety measures and has won three awards as far as safety of passengers and staff is concerned,” Almeida added.
“It is of concern that a sudden rise of road accidents in the State have claimed many lives. Most citizens prefer travelling by KTC buses as they are safe and the service is good,” said the KTC chairman.
“It is my dream to make KTC the safest mode of transport in the State, so that more people use KTC as their preferred means of their transport.”
Almeida also informed that efforts would be initiated to provide better services to KTC staff. “I have noticed that drivers and conductors face problems reaching home in time to be with their families. I will conduct a seminar for drivers, conductors and their family members, to ascertain and address the reason behind this delay,” said Almeida.
KTC MD Derrick Neto Pereira also spoke on the occasion. Earlier, Almeida interacted with the KTC staff and presented a power point presentation on road safety measures.
Other senior officials, administrative staff and staff from the technical section were also present during the interaction.
