The Kadamba Transport Corporation has floated a tender for appointment of a licencee for transportation of parcel, specific allied services and operation of courier service by the buses owned by the Kadamba Transport Corporation.
According to the detailed tender documents, the KTC intends to commercially exploit its infrastructure to generate additional revenue by appointing licensee for the transportation of parcels and allied services like that of transport of un-accompanied luggage, newspapers, magazine parcels, milk cans through the inter-state services operated by the State owned corporation, but excluding banned and prohibited items including inflammable petrochemicals, fish and other banned items.
Corporation's role in this business will be strictly confined to provide space and land at its bus stands for parcel offices if space is available on rental and space available on roof of the buses having luggage carrier or luggage compartment in its possession for transportation of parcels and operations of courier, without any financial liability whatsoever during the contractual period.
The entire execution of the work of booking, transshipment, delivery, loading, unloading of parcel, courier and specific allied services will be the sole responsibility of the licensee.
Firms would necessarily need to have three years or more experience in the field and a turnover of more than Rs 1 crore a year to be eligible. Both the technical and financial bids will be opened on May 20.
