Consumer rights organization GOACAN has questioned Kadamba Transport Corporation Limited (KTCL) charging the new bus fare although the State government is yet to issue the notification giving the price hike effect. GOACAN has demanded that the transport department intervene as the illegal act of KTCL has created confusion among commuters, Roland Martins, the NGO’s coordinator said.

The transport dept has decided to hike passenger tariff from Rs 8 to 10 for the first four kms and an addition Rs 5 for every eight further kilometres.

Though this fare hike has been approved by the government, the notification giving it effect is yet to be issued by the transport department.

However, KTCL has started collecting the enhanced fare which has created confusion among bus commuters.
